Halloween is one of the holidays where the temptation for foods that might not make you feel your best is ALL around – instead of giving in and maybe feeling symptoms of an autoimmune flare or upset tummy as a result, try one (or more) of these Paleo Halloween treats!
There are all fun (because Halloween treats need to be fun), suitable for both kids and adults, and use only natural sweeteners.
Paleo Halloween Treats
Paleo Halloween Tombstone Cookies
The first one is one of our family favorites, and a hit every time we give them to friends as well. They're little Paleo shortbread cookies shaped into spooky tombstones! Add some edible “dirt” and it's the making for a treat that is sure to delight!

Healthy Halloween Snack for Kids
The second is something you could do as an after school snack or for a Halloween party at school, and is also something you can feel REALLY good about serving as it's free of any added sugars!
It's really quick to whip up too – and if you have older kids they can even help make it!

Curry Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
The third is a classic – roasted pumpkin seeds. I mean, who doesn't want to have these after you carve a pumpkin? (Who else HATES carving pumpkins? Am I the only one?)
Sure, you can just do salt, but why not add some flavor and excitement with some curry powder?
Paleo Pumpkin Spiced Latte
Paleo Halloween treat # 4 is a fall classic as well – Pumpkin Spiced Lattes, or PSL's for short, are now almost synonymous with autumn. But the ones you get in the coffee shops like Starbucks are LOADED with sugars and other preservatives, etc.
I think it's totally fine to partake in them a few times per season, but if you want them more, make a healthier, MUCH less sugar version that still delicious. This video shows a really quick version I make all the time that's Paleo, and dairy-free – and gluten-free (since I STILL can't quite get a straight answer on if Starbuck's PSLs are gluten-free).
26 Paleo Halloween Candy Recipes
In this post, you'll find 26 Paleo Halloween Candy recipes! While I don't expect you to make all 26, it gives a lot of great options to maybe make a few so if faced with the huge bag full of Twinkies, Kit-Kat, and Reeses Pieces on Halloween, you can easily choose a better option.
I also like to make some of these Paleo versions to have on hand during the entire Halloween season so my kids can have better options as they go to the numerous parties and events that surround Halloween.
In our house, our kids can choose 3 pieces of commercial candy on Halloween night from their trick-or-treating bags and then they give the rest to the Switch Witch (see below for more on her).
The rest of the time we eat one or two of these Paleo Halloween candy recipes instead!

Paleo Chocolate Covered Apples
Every year we make these Paleo Chocolate Covered Apples. They are SO much fun to make, are a great activity to do with friends, and yield a treat I feel good about serving everyone.
This post gives the recipe, several coating and topping ideas, and also includes a how-to video demonstrating me making them.
Paleo Chocolate Covered Apples
Here is a Facebook Live on making chocolate covered apples (including some new ones, like coloring coconut butter with Blue Majik spirulina to make it blue, that I didn't have in my blog post above):

And for those of you on the AIP diet, I've got you covered too. These AIP Carob Covered Apples are delicious and can also be topped with many delightful toppings!

Paleo & Dairy-free Pumpkin Milkshake
THIS was the very first post I wrote on this blog! So crazy to think about! In it, I shared a dairy-free Pumpkin Milkshake recipe that is Ah-MAZ-ing and also some ways to make Halloween more exciting if your child is on Paleo or has some food allergy that makes it hard for them to have commercial candy or food. (Or if you just don't want them to have all that sugar)
3 Ways to Make Halloween Exciting for your Paleo Kid (Including a Pumpkin Milkshake recipe)
Also, if making a pumpkin milkshake from scratch seems hard, I just did a Facebook Live showing one you can make using pre-made ice cream. It's probably not as healthy as the one above, but it's a lot faster.
Bonus: Get your kids to switch out their candy – willingly
This is a Facebook Live on surefire ways to get your kids to WANT to switch out their candy for healthier options, including the Switch Witch option I mentioned above:
